Assistant Coach Delman Takes Over Hockey Program

St. John Paul II High School has promoted Assistant Coach Joshua Delman to Varsity Head Coach, effective immediately. Delman succeeds Chris Kent, who led the Lions to a program-best 18-2-3 record last season.

“I am very excited about Coach Delman taking over the JPII hockey program; his passion for the sport, the team, and the JPII community is clear.” He understands what it means to be a positive role model and will help to build our program on and off the ice” said Athletic Director Rich Fazzi.

Delman has been coaching youth hockey over the past 8 years on Cape Cod. He coached first at Cape Cod Canal Youth Hockey and then as a Head Coach for the New England Hurricane and Seahawks Hockey Club organizations. Delman joined the JPII Varsity boys staff as an assistant coach for the 2019 – 2020 season helping with the defense. The Lions won the Central Catholic League and earned a second seed in the MIAA tournament.

“I couldn’t be more excited to accept the position as head coach at St. John Paul II; I am honored to have been selected. JPII has given so much to two of my sons and I hope to be able to give something back. Coach Ferreira, Jancaterino and Kent along with all the alumni have made huge contributions to the hockey program and I look forward to continuing to build on the hockey tradition” said Delman.

Delman lives in East Sandwich and attends Our Lady of Hope in West Barnstable.

We are excited about the continuity that Josh Delman will bring to the hockey program.  Coach Delman was the Assistant Coach last year and brings a knowledge of the players and our school.  He is a positive role model, understands JPII’s expectations and will bring so much to our hockey program. “,” stated Principal, Mona Lisa Valentino.
