JPII School Celebrates Its AP Capstone Diploma Recipients

Two St. John Paul II School students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma™, and two others have achieved AP Seminar and Research Certificates™ during the 2020-21 school year. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills critical to academic success.

Melanie Campinini, Class of 2021 Valedictorian, and Ashley Reen earned AP Capstone Diplomas and were named AP Scholars with Distinction. Sophie Bailey earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction. Alexandra Sampfl earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate and was named an AP Scholar. Kaitlyn Bresnahan, Brianna Johnson, Huy Le, Gregory Maynard, and Jake Walman made AP Scholar with Honor status. In addition, Maria Bagley, Charlotte Bodwell, Keira Carpenter, Shane Cummings, Matthew Curran, Ashlin Enright, Cam Lakatos, Nathan Mazzoni, Mary Kate Moran, Kendal O’Brien, Caitlyn Reen, and Ana Santos were named AP Scholars.

“We proudly recognize the achievements of students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” said Mona Lisa Valentino, High School Division Principal. “Our AP Capstone students and teachers showed extraordinary commitment while facing historic challenges. The students’ achievements will serve them well after high school.”

To receive the AP Capstone Diploma, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and on four additional AP Exams. To obtain the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research.

“Congratulations to the AP Capstone award winners, who conduct, present, and defend academic research on topics they are passionate about,” said Trevor Packer, College Board senior vice president of AP and Instruction. “Their ability to manage long-term projects, collaborate with teams, and deliver effective presentations will accelerate both their academic and professional careers.”
